How your session may be covered

The NDIS

Skill Set Occupational Therapy is a registered NDIS provider working with self-managed and plan-managed participants. Please note that our fees are the same for NDIS participants and our private clients – we do NOT charge a higher rate for NDIS clients.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is a Federal program designed to ease the cost burden on individuals who require support due to ongoing disability. Many of our Skill Set clients utilise funding from the NDIS as a way to cover the costs associated with treatment such as assessments, therapy sessions, and externally-sourced support equipment. If you want to know if you qualify for NDIS assistance, more information can be found at the official government NDIS website. You can navigate there by clicking on the following link:

NDIS Website.

Due to the evolving nature of the program, qualifying criteria may be subject to change from time to time. Should this affect your ability to cover ongoing treatment, please let us know and we will attempt to facilitate any changes as best we can.

Medicare

The Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly known as the Team Care Arrangement) can be arranged by a GP. These plans allow clients to receive a Medicare rebate for up to five (5) Allied Health sessions per calendar year if your child meets the eligibility criteria. To use this plan with Skill Set OT, we require a copy of your GP referral with ‘Skill Set Occupational Therapy’ listed as your OT provider.

After your session, payment will be made in full and we can arrange for your Medicare rebate (currently $53.80) to be refunded through our HiCAPS machine or you can claim your rebate directly from Medicare.

Private Health

Private Health Insurance rebates may be available, depending on your policy. Talk to your private health provider for further information prior to attending your first session. The relevant item numbers for Occupational Therapy are:

  • 100 for an Initial Assessment
  • 200 or 250 for Subsequent Appointments

If you attend an appointment at our clinic we can process your private health through our HiCAPS terminal. If your appointment takes place off-site you can submit your receipt to your health fund for claiming.

*If your child is using a Medicare Plan for sessions, you will be unable to claim the gap through your private health fund.

Private Sessions

You do not need a referral or funding to attend Occupational Therapy sessions so feel free to call and make an appointment if you believe your child could benefit from our services. Sessions can be paid for privately.
